About me
Rebecca Oravec is a middle school math teacher in Sahuarita Unified School District, just south of Tucson, AZ. After seven years of teaching art, she transitioned to mathematics in 2024 and is currently pursuing a second Masters in Education alongside a certification in Special Education from ASU. Rebecca’s initial Masters in Teaching was through Seattle Pacific University in an alternative route to certification program after working as an aide and secretary in an elementary school. She achieved National Board Certification in 2022 and serves as a Candidate Support Provider through the Arizona K-12 Center for other teachers pursuing National Board Certification. Rebecca facilitates a number of professional development courses in her district on neuroscience, supporting diverse students, and classroom culture. She’s been honored to keynote at a variety of events and provide live visual notetaking at local conferences. In 2021, Rebecca founded the Sahuarita CommunityShare Teacher Fellowship in partnership with her district, educational foundation, and county superintendent’s office. Rebecca is passionate about being a lifelong learner and helping others re–ignite their passion for education.
